ATHENS - The Georgia football team began preparations for its fourth Southeastern Conference game by practicing for 90 minutes at the Woodruff Practice Fields on Monday.

Sixteenth-ranked Georgia (5-1, 2-1 SEC) will entertain Vanderbilt (2-4, 0-3) on Saturday at Sanford Stadium in a 12:30 p.m. contest. The Bulldogs are coming off their first loss of the year, a 51-33 setback against Tennessee. The Commodores have beaten Tennessee State and Temple and have lost to Michigan, Alabama, Arkansas and Ole Miss. In Vanderbilt's SEC losses, the average per decision has been four points.

"Vanderbilt has a talented football team, and they have played very good football this season," Georgia coach Mark Richt said. "They are 0-3 in the conference, but they've been right there in every game. We have a lot of respect for their players and their coaches. I thought we had a good start to the week today. It was good to get back to work."

Richt announced the captains for Saturday¹s game will be Daniel Inman and Nick Jones on offense, Jeff Owens on defense, and Thomas Brown on special teams.
