Senior Kelly Whitaker has always been a major force for this year's Bulldog soccer team, but until last week she was shut out of the stat column. Then in each game last week she converted two cornerkicks into assists. The bad news is that these were Georgia's only 2 goals as the fell victim to 2 SEC powerhouses... Florida and South Carolina. Now is another week and the midfielder looks to regroup.
-- The last 2 losses hurt, because you were leading both of them, but you have to move on, right?
-- We can't dwell on the loss, but we have to learn from it and move on.
-- When you are winning in the first half and you try to hold on... doesn't it seem like the clock moves a little slower?
-- It does. Especially in the big games.
are next... there are no gimme games in the SEC...
-- This is an extremely competitive conference!
-- You are a senior now, what does this have more of that some of the previous teams did not have?
-- This team is so close. We have a great unity.
-- This team also has a lot of freshmen, how have they progressed?
-- They came in so nervous, but now they are playing with confidence. They realize that not only that we want them to contribute, but we need them to contribute.
-- One of the things you individual has been doing well is the cornerkicks... assisting on two goals this week, so many thing have to go right in a cornerkick...
-- A lot. I have to kick in the right position. The runners and framers all have to react in the right way. The goalie needs to be out of position, too.
-- The home crowd loves it, too...
-- They do.
-- It has been awhile, but do you remember your last goal?
-- Sometime back in my sophomore year.
-- Thank you and good luck scoring another goal.
will be playing the next two fridays and the next two sundays at home. So catch them before and after you enjoy the football game.
