EASY BIG FELLA: Richt hopes Thomas Brown’s demotion will get the junior running back to slow down a little on the field. Brown is averaging 2.9 yards per carry and his longest run is 13 yards.

“We’re not disappointed in Thomas, but the production hasn’t been there,” Richt said. “Thomas plays so hard and runs so hard and hits things so quickly, I think he has to slow himself down a little bit and see the blocking schemes develop and then once he sees it, have that burst. I think he’s having that burst before he sees it.”

TRAINING ROOM RAT: Senior quarterback Joe Tereshinski estimated he has spent six-to-seven hours in the training room six days a week since his injury, and Richt doesn’t think that’s an exaggeration.

“He’s a pretty determined guy,” Richt said. “He’s a very serious human being, that’s for sure. He probably broke some kind of record for most treatments in a 24-hour period. He got as much treatment as you possibly could have.”

Tereshinski hopes to be ready to return to practice full speed by Monday, but Richt declined to speculate where Tereshinski will be on the depth chart when he returns.

THIS AND THAT: Offensive tackle Michael Turner (ankle) didn’t finish Tuesday’s practice and is doubtful for Saturday’s game. … Only four teams have blocked more kicks since 2001 than Georgia, which blocked its 24th in that span Saturday. Texas (41), N.C. State (34), Virginia Tech (28) and Syracuse (25) have blocked more. … Georgia is ranked second nationally in net punting (42.4 yards per kick).
