COLUMBIA, S.C. – Despite seemingly being benched earlier this week, Georgia wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi kept his starting streak alive Saturday.

The sophomore was redeemed when the No. 12 Bulldogs started their game against South Carolina in a three-receiver set, allowing Peach County’s A.J. Bryant, Mario Raley and Massaquoi to notch starts. Wide receivers coach John Eason said he was going to replace Massaquoi and Kenneth Harris with Bryant and Raley this week. However, Massaquoi managed to start his fifth straight game despite catching just one pass for 2 yards against Western Kentucky last week

It was a milestone for Bryant, a junior who came to Georgia with lots of fanfare but had just eight catches combined in his first two years. Saturday was the first start of his career, and he followed it quickly with his first catch of the season by grabbing a reception on Georgia’s fifth play of the game, gaining 6 yards and picking up a first down.
