USC Week: Thursday Practice Report

ATHENS The No. 12-ranked Bulldogs practiced at Sanford Stadium on Thursday, wrapping up a week of preparations for Saturday¹s game at South Carolina.

Georgia tradition for a Thursday prior to a road game is working out at the stadium while crowd noise plays over the loudspeakers.

³It was a good day,² said head coach Mark Richt. ³It¹s rare that we have a bad practice (with the noise) because they absolutely have to concentrate. The only thing that it messes up is when you are trying to move the scout team around.²

Punt returner Mikey Henderson jogged throughout the afternoon but did not practice. Richt said players who don¹t practice, don¹t play, so Henderson will be out for Saturday. Freshman DB Asher Allen is listed on the depth chart as Henderson¹s backup and had two returns for 28 yards last week against Western Kentucky.

Under Richt, Georgia is 19-2 in an opponent¹s home stadium and 2-0 at South Carolina. Georgia¹s last two trips to Columbia were slim victories (13-7 in 2002; 20-16 in 2004).
