ATHENS – Junior Danny Ware let it be known Saturday that he’s not ready to be counted out of Georgia’s tailback rotation.

And he did it with a queasy stomach. Ware rushed for a team-high 68 yards on six carries andscored on a 41-yard run to help the No. 15 Bulldogs past Western Kentucky 48-12.

“I was a little sick this morning,” Ware said. But “the coaches gave me a chance, and I triedto make the best of it. I can’t let the team down.”

Starting tailback Thomas Brown, who was the most impressive back in preseason practice, had just 26 yards on five carries. Ware and Kregg Lumpkin (five carries, 26 yards) had morerunning room than Brown, running backs coach Tony Ball said.

“I noticed that, yeah,” Brown said. “It gets frustrating at times, I’m not going to lie. Obviously, I didn’t run for as many yards as I wanted to.”

Ball was not disappointed in Brown, but was very impressed with Ware, he said.

“I thought Danny ran hard, broke some tackles. That’s what I look at,” Ball said.
