When the practice ended shortly after 11:00 a.m., head coach Mark Richt was informed that fans began lining up for pictures with mascot Uga VI approximately six or seven hours before anyone began a line for Richt's portion of Picture Day.
"He's the one," Richt said. "We went to D.C. one time and no one cared that me or Coach Dooley or President Adams was there. They all wanted to hang out with Uga. That's just the way it is."
Richt stated that cornerback Bryan Evans missed practice with a knee injury suffered in Friday's scrimmage and defensive linemen Ricardo Crawford and Brandon Wood missed the workout due to slight shoulder injuries. While Crawford and Wood aren't expected to miss much practice, Evans will be out longer.
"(Director of Sports Medicine) Ron (Courson) says it's very similar towhat (D.J.) Shockley had in the mid-season (last year), a strain of a ligament," Richt said. "We had a game then an open date and then he practiced that whole week full speed. It's usually two weeks or less."
Defensive ends Quentin Moses and Charles Johnson did not participate in the scrimmage but for different reasons.
"We wanted to let everyone else have some fun and maybe make a play hereor there," Richt said. "We have a lot of depth there. Plus, we played a lot of walk-ons. It was a combination of resting them up a little bit and also just seeing some young guys and what they could do."
