ATHENS - Josh Kendall's news and notes from Georgia's fall camp.

STILL SEARCHING: The Bulldogs still are looking for a starting cornerback opposite Paul Oliver. Junior Thomas Flowers put the position up for grabs when he was suspended for the first two games of the year.

Sophomore Ramarcus Brown, redshirt freshman Bryan Evans and true freshman Asher Allen are still in contention for the spot after Friday’s scrimmage, defensive coordinator Willie Martinez said.

“It could not be settled on until two or three games into the season,” Martinez said. “There’s no consistency from any of them so it’s hard to say this guy has won it and this guy hasn’t.”

ANOTHER RANKING: The first Associated Press poll was released Friday, and the Bulldogs came in at No. 15. It’s Georgia’s lowest ranking in the AP’s preseason poll since 2001, when it entered the season unranked in Richt’s first year.

“That’s not surprising,” Richt said. “If you win, you’ll move up.”
