Miller has "great instincts"

ATHENS – The comparisons to Tim Jennings started before Prince Miller got to Georgia.

But when the South Carolina native took Jennings’ old number 23 jersey the similarities were striking. Both players hail from the Palmetto State; both are cornerbacks; both are small in stature; and most importantly both have great ball-catching abilities.

“I didn’t ask for number 23 - it was given to me,” Miller said.

But with the number 23 on, Miller fits Jennings’ description.

“Our guys have (developed) a high respect for Prince Miller in a very short time,” said Georgia head coach Mark Richt.

“He's got great instincts, quickness and the ability to catch the ball even though he's a corner. Corners that can catch it are dangerous. They think there's something special about him. It remains to be seen, of course. We're looking forward to working with Prince.”

Miller came to Georgia with high rave reviews. He was named Mr. South Carolina Football in 2005, and his high school – Byrnes – won four consecutive state AAAA football titles in the Palmetto State.

In high school Miller recorded nine interceptions, forced three fumbles and returned three punts for touchdowns. He also had over 2,000 yards of total offense and 16 total touchdowns as a senior.

But Miller said getting used to college football will take some time.

“The coaches have done a lot of teaching, and the older guys have done a lot to help us around,” Miller said of his time at camp. “The practices are more intense.”
