2006 Fall Camp: Day Five Practice Report

Posted Aug 9, 2006

ATHENS - The Georgia football team continued its preseason workouts on Wednesday with a two-hour session at the Woodruff Practice Fields.

Practicing in shells, the Bulldogs continued the good work they began on Tuesday, according to Coach Mark Richt.

"(On Tuesday), I got pretty excited, and they carried it over to today," Richt said. "It was a fine-effort day. There are so many guys who are making plays. ... I saw everyone working hard today. I didn't see anyone wane or fall by the wayside."

Richt was asked about the quarterback race featuring senior Joe Tereshinski, sophomore Blake Barnes, redshirt freshman Joe Cox and freshman Matthew Stafford.

"They are playing well," Richt said. "The competition is healthy. They are sharp in the meetings and focused at the practices. They are all great kids. They are intelligent, talented and they do a wonderful job of competing without making it personal. They all get along."

Georgia will have its first two-a-day session on Thursday, including a morning workout in full pads.
