ATHENS - The Georgia football team worked out for two hours in helmets and shoulder pads at the Woodruff Practice Fields on Tuesday. It marked the team¹s fourth of 27 practices for the month of August.
Head Coach Mark Richt was please with his team¹s effort throughout the day.
³What a difference a day makes,² Richt said. ³I thought today was an awesome practice. I was fired up. The guys were focused and flying around. A lot of plays were made on both sides of the ball.²
Senior Dale Dixson, who on Monday moved to the offensive line to add depth at guard and center, was back at defensive tackle.
³That move was just a lot to ask a senior to do. After living through it for one day it was back to defense. We took (Fernando) Velasco and made him snap a little today. (Kevin) Perez is still (at the center position) and by game three we¹re hoping (Ian) Smith will be ready,² said Richt.
On the defensive side of the ball, Richt praised the secondary, including Paul Oliver, Reshad Jones and CJ Bryd, after a handful of interceptions during the workout.
³The defensive backs are catching the ball better than I can ever remember here. Some guys are flat-out making plays,² Richt said.
