More
Nick Claytor is a bookend tackle for Gainesville High School that has drawn the interest of a lot of schools early in the process. He has just about everything a college will be looking for in a lineman.
The Class of 2007 in the state of Georgia has a lot of the skill players getting early hype, but it is also a solid year for offensive tackles in the Peach State this year. One of those players to watch is Gainesville's
Nick Claytor
. Claytor is a 6-6 and 300 pound left tackle for the Red Elephants that has a lot of the aspects coaches are looking for in a player.
Size? Check. At 6-6 and 300 pounds, Claytor has an outstanding frame.
Quickness? Check. Claytor can get to the second level of blockers and also dominate the man in front of him.
Toughness? Check. Claytor got his ankle rolled up in a playoff game against Westlake. He came back and played the second half after he was told it was a high ankle sprain. Turns out, his ankle was broken.
Grades? Check. A 3.5 GPA and an SAT on the way.
Bloodlines? Check. Claytor's mother ran track at Ohio and his dad played basketball at Bowling Green.
So who has the early lead on Gainesville's biggest Red Elephant?
"I went to Georgia's camp last year, and I went to Furman's offensive line camp with my teammates last year," said Claytor. "I went to about three or four Georgia game last year. I was going to the Clemson/Florida State game, but I got hurt in the playoffs. Georgia and Clemson are at the top of the list right now, because those are the only schools I had transportation to go see last year, but I don't really have any favorites. I like Georgia, Clemson, Florida, Auburn, and Tennessee the best right now."
Claytor doesn't have any scholarship offers yet, but it's only a matter of time.
