Rank: 4 Rating: *****

THE STATS: 48 tackles and four sacks on defense and had 800 rushing yards with eight touchdowns during his senior year…as a junior rushed for nearly 1,200 yards and 14 touchdowns while adding 100 tackles and 14 sacks on defense…led team to first playoff appearance in 38 years in 2005…also played basketball and ran track.

HONORS: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Super 11, Super Southern 100 and Class AAAA All-State…Georgia Sports Writers Association Class AAAA All-State Team….FSN South Countdown to Signing Day Second-Team Defense…PrepStar 200…ESPN Top 150…invited to play in the Georgia North-South All-Star Game… Scout.com Hot 100 and No. 4 ranked DE … Times-Georgian Defensive Player of the Year

FINAL WORD: Wood is one of a few players that may avoid a redshirt in 2006, but he's going to have to have a good fall camp to prove to the staff that playing his first season is not a waste. Georgia has two All-SEC-potential defensive ends, and while they will need a rest every now and then, Quentin Moses and Charles Johnson will get the bulk of the time at both spots. There are several other players at this spot – it's one of the Bulldogs' deepest. For Wood to get a shot at playing he's going to have to catch the coaches' eyes fast, and avoid the injury bug.
