Georgia's Taylor Named To All-Mayday Team

Posted Jan 4, 2006

ATHENS - Linebacker Tony Taylor of the Georgia football team has been named to the All-Mayday Team as selected by ESPN college football analyst Mark May. The All-Mayday Team recognizes players who have overcome adversity and/or injury and have displayed toughness and determination.

Tony Taylor, a rising senior from Watkinsville, missed all of the 2004 season after enduring a torn anterior cruciate ligament during spring practice. He earned his starting job back for 2005, only to miss four games due to torn elbow ligaments and a knee injury. However, Taylor wore special padding to protect the elbow and bounced back from knee arthroscopy, and he wound up playing in eight games, including the SEC Championship and the Sugar Bowl. Taylor tied for fifth on the team with 56 tackles and he also intercepted a pass and recovered a fumble.
