Georgia will face West Virginia in the Nokia Sugar Bowl on Jan. 2 in the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.
The Bulldogs began their day with early morning meetings, followed by a team photo in the Spec Towns Track grandstands. The players wore their jerseys featuring a Nokia Sugar Bowl patch. Georgia then practiced in Athens for the final time as the players then were excused to go home for Christmas. The team will reconvene in Atlanta on Dec. 27.
Aside from the seniors, who worked out on the Woodruff Practice Fields for the final time, the players did conditioning work after practice. However, Coach Mark Richt reduced the amount of conditioning after the team sang a couple of choruses of "Jingle Bells."
"The seniors were off, but I told the team if they'd all sing, we'd take two gassers off for everybody else," Richt said. "They just kept going and when they finally stopped, we cut it to two gassers for the juniors and four for the rest of the underclassmen. I thought they sounded pretty good. Of course, they'll do anything to cut down the gassers."
Georgia fans are encouraged to show their support on game day at the Dog Walk which will be held Jan. 2 at 6:25 p.m. outside the Georgia Dome near the Gold Deck. It is the same location where Georgia held it before the SEC Championship Game.
Kickoff for the Nokia Sugar Bowl will be Jan. 2 at 8:30 p.m., and the game will be televised by ABC.
