Wednesday's (12/21, 6:30 p.m. ET) COUNTDOWN TO SIGNING DAY reveals the show's 14th annual
"All-South" team, spotlighting the first-, second- and third-unit honorees among the region's premier high school seniors. The "All-South" team is selected by analysts Jamie Newberg and Scott Kennedy of Scout.com., host Cory Kessler, and the show's production staff.
COUNTDOWN also welcomes as an in-studio guest, "All-South" quarterback Mitch Mustain (6-3, 210),
who is the 1st Team All-South Quarterback. Mustain led Springdale High School to the 2005 Arkansas AAAAA state championship, and, among his unbeaten team's 14 victories were 13 - including the state title game - in which the "mercy rule" was enacted. After having committed to Arkansas, Mustain has reconsidered his college choice and reopened his recruitment.
Also in-studio on Wednesday is "All-South" offensive lineman/defensive end standout Kiante Tripp
(6-5, 250) of Atlanta's Westlake HS, who has committed to Georgia. Tripp is the top-rated two-way lineman in the Peach State.
CTSD profiles "All-South" selection Marcus Sims (6-2, 220), who played linebacker and running back at North Florida Christian in Tallahassee, Fla., and is expected to carry his versatility to the next level. Sims, the younger brother of standout Florida State linebacker Ernie Sims, has narrowed his choices to Alabama, Clemson, Florida State, Miami and Southern California.
Also in the CTSD spotlight are "All-South" offensive lineman Andre Smith (6-4, 315) and "All-South" running back Cordera Eason (6-0, 235). Smith, of Huffman HS in Birmingham, Ala., is looking at Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia and Miami. Eason, from Meridian (Miss.) HS, rushed for 1,100 and 14 touchdowns during his junior season, and is he is examining Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Texas A&M.
