ATHENS - Josh Kendall's news and notes about Georgia's selection to the 2006 Sugar Bowl.

Notable: Each school was given 15,000 tickets for the Sugar Bowl. Georgia’s allotment is expected to be taken by its regular season tickets holders. The school can order more, but there is no guarantee morewill be available, said Paul Hoolahan, the executive director of the game. The ticket demand for the game has already been huge, he said. “We are in a situation where we are not trying to sell tickets, we’re trying to manage tickets,” Hoolahan said. Tickets can be ordered from the bowl’s Web site, www.nokiasugarbowl.com. … The Bulldogs will be off until Dec. 16, the last day of final exams. The team will practice that afternoon, and then begin several day of two-a-day practices. … Georgia strength coach Dave Van Halagner and tight ends coach Dave Johnson both played for West Virginia. Van Halanger was a starter on the offensive line from 1973-‘75, and Johnson was a center from 1979-’83. … Georgia is the designated home team for the game.

Quotable: “We’re still pinching ourselves to make sure it happened the way it did.” – Georgia coach Mark Richt on beating LSU 34-14.

Injuries: Linebacker Brandon Miller (sprained left knee) and defensive back Ramarcus Brown (concussion) were injured during the SEC Championship Game. Richt did not discuss on Sunday their status for the Sugar Bowl.
