The Duel in Dallas
Matthew Stafford
By

While Georgia was busy winning an SEC Championship, the crown jewel of the Bulldogs' recruiting class was busy taking his team to the State Championships. See how he and Texas Commitment Jevan Snead put on a classic battle in Dallas on Saturday.
There was as an old fashioned Texas duel on Saturday as two of Scout.com's Top 10 quarterbacks hooked up in a Classic in the Texas State Semi Finals.
Matthew Stafford
, Scout.com's #2 ranked Quarterback, led his Highland Park team to a victory over Stephenville and
Jevan Snead
, Scout.com's #8 Quarterback. See 10 minutes of highlights as these two put on a show.
In front of more than 20,000 fans at the University of
North Texas
, Matthew Stafford of Highland Park and Jevan Snead of Stephenville put on a show.
The early rounds went to Stafford as he amassed a 27-17 lead, but Snead and his Stephenville team stormed back in the second half to take a 38-34 lead after stopping Highland Park on 4th and Goal. The next play was a 94 yard reverse that went to the distance.
After a fumble, it appeared as if Stephenville would wrap up the win, but a costly Snead interception gave Stafford and Company new life.
Stafford calmly led his team down the field and completed a seven yard slant with 34 seconds left.
Snead got one more chance, but he got bent under in a tackle and injured his knee (extent of injury not known), and Stephenville could only get one more play. As the pass fell incomplete, the Highland Park team celebrated.
Stafford finished the day with 336 yards and four touchdowns on 21 of 29 passing. Snead had 272 yards passing and three touchdowns on 16 of 22. He also added a score on the ground.
