SIMS OUT A GAME: Redshirt freshman safety Antonio Sims has been suspended for this week’s game against Georgia Tech following his arrest early Sunday morning. Sims, 19, was arrested on charges of DUI, underage possession of alcohol, improper driving and failure to obey signs or signals.

“I’m not thrilled about the judgment he used, or didn’t use,” Coach Mark Richt said after announcing the suspension Monday.

Sims also will be subject to internal discipline. He will be eligible to return for the SEC Championship Game if he completes all the requirements placed on him, Richt said.

Sims missed Monday’s practice to attend the funeral of his grandmother, but he and Richt have spoken on the phone since the incident.

“He admitted he’d blown it,” Richt said.

INJURY UPDATE: Safety Tra Battle, a Mary Persons graduate, practiced Monday and feels fully recovered from the concussion that kept him out of the Kentucky game, he said.

“I’m playing,” Battle said. “I’m ready. I really can’t even put into words (how much I’m ready to return). I hate watching and not being involved.”

Defensive end Charles Johnson, who injured his shoulder against Kentucky, also was a full participant in Monday’s practice.

MOVING IN: Richt decided shortly before the Bulldogs began their Monday afternoon practice to move the workout inside due to heavy rains in the area. Georgia practiced about 90 minutes on basketball courts in the Ramsey Center.

MOVING UP: Junior Quentin Moses is second in the SEC in both sacks (nine) and tackles for loss (15.5) after adding a sack in Saturday’s win over Kentucky. Moses, who acknowledged last week that he will consider skipping his junior season for early entry into the NFL Draft, trails Mississippi State’s Willie Evans by four sacks and 3.5 tackles for loss.

Moses is tied for 12th nationally in sacks and 13th nationally in tackles for loss.

ANOTHER LINE HONOR: On Monday, guard Nick Jones became the fourth Georgia lineman to be recognized as the SEC’s offensive lineman of the week. Jones had four dominator blocks and graded out at 91 percent in the Bulldogs’ 45-13 win over Kentucky. Tackles Daniel Inman and Dennis Roland and guard Max Jean-Gilles were previously honored.

The only starters on the Bulldogs’ line who haven’t won the honor now are Russ Tanner and Ryan Schnetzer, who rotate at center.
