Golston takes a stab at Jackets

ATHENS — Georgia defensive tackle Kedric Golston was trying Monday evening to put an end to the silly old notion that the Bulldogs are the football school and Georgia Tech the brainiac school in the state’s biggest rivalry.

Then he remembered what happened last week, when the NCAA placed the Yellow Jackets on two years probation for using 17 ineligible athletes.

“It must be a harder school,” Golston said. “I hear they have to forfeit their last three seasons because some guys were ineligible. I just think somebody should have figured that out a little earlier.”

The Yellow Jackets, who unwittingly played 11 ademically ineligible football players, actually have to vacate the records for all or part of their football seasons from 1998-2002 and 2004.
