ATHENS – David Johnson spoke with Dean Legge for a short time after one of Georgia's fall practices.

Dean Legge: How do you feel Leonard Pope is coming along right now?

David Johnson: He’s always been coming along. He’s a good football player and he takes advantage of situations when the ball comes his way.

How do you think Martrez is doing? He had that one drop against Florida – and it seems like everyone has focused on that – but it seems that he’s had a big year.

He has had a big year. He is a solid player – he really is. He’s a great athlete that runs outstanding routes. He has gotten a lot tougher.

Has he gotten more mentally tough?

Yeah. I think he has – both physically and mentally. He has taken a lot more pride in his blocking.

Y’all use him in your wham package.

Yes – he’s sort of our wham or motion guy. We like to have him isolated on the linebacker. He’s really been a key part of what we do.
