| Tech Week: Monday Practice Report | ||||
ATHENS - The Georgia football team began preparations for Saturday's game with instate rival Georgia Tech by practicing indoors at the Ramsey Center for approximately 90 minutes on Monday. | ||||
Heavy rains in Athens around 3 p.m. forced the Bulldogs to move their practice session indoors. However, Georgia was able to complete most of its standard Monday helmets-and-shorts routine, practicing all phases of the game. The Bulldogs are ranked 13th this week after improving to 8-2 with last week's win over Kentucky. With that victory, Georgia clinched a berth in the SEC Championship Game next week. Georgia Tech is 20th at 7-3 following its win over then-No. 3 Miami. "Georgia Tech has a very good football team, and their win at Miami was impressive," Georgia coach Mark Richt said. "We're going to have a great challenge against them. They are very physical and they will get after you. It should be one heck of a game." Richt announced the captains for Saturday's game will be offensive tackle Dennis Roland, defensive end Will Thompson, defensive tackle Kedric Golston and receiver/kick returner Bryan McClendon. Richt also announced that reserve defensive back Antonio Sims has been suspended for Saturday's game because of a violation of team rules. Saturday¹s game in Atlanta will kick off at 8 p.m. and will be televised by ABC. |
