Basketball Update: Johnson back in practice

ATHENS - After deciding three weeks ago to undergo season-ending surgery, Georgia basketball freshman Kendrick Johnson has changed his mind and joined the team for practice. Johnson will try to play this year despite chronic ankle problems that will need surgery to repair.

“Right now, he is trying to play and put the surgery off until after the season is over,” basketball coach Dennis Felton said. “It’s a day-to-day thing. He just wanted to try to see if he could make a go of it.”

The 6-foot-10, 225-pounder still may not have much impact this year, though. He hasn’t practiced in at least four days, Felton said.
