Dean Legge makes his weekly picks for the 23 schools in the South.
1.
Miami
– Best in the South – Yes, better than Bama, but not if the Tide goes undefeated…
2.
Alabama
– In control of the SEC West for now, but need to score to win out…
3.
Georgia
– Dawgs get a much-needed week off before
Auburn
, which will decide their fate in the East…
4.
LSU
– Not that great of a performance against App State, but its all on the line this weekend against Bama…
5.
Virginia Tech
– Looked good for some time, but Miami looked like the Miami from the 1980s – Virginia Tech looked a big like the Virginia Tech of the 1980s, too – not good…
6. Auburn – Struggled early against
Kentucky
, but blew them out in the end. Upsetting Georgia keeps Tigers in the SEC West race. Tigers will know their fate before taking the field…
7.
Florida
– Looked horrible against
Vanderbilt
, and benefited from two questionable calls by the officials. “Mighty” Gators should be nervous about game in Columbia – very nervous…
8.
South Carolina
– Now or never for the Cocks as it relates to the Gators. Spurrier won’t be intimidated, and Florida is not that great. Cock fans would burn the city down if they won…
9.
Georgia Tech
– Qualified for bowl with win – now needs solid wins to finish the season…
10.
Florida State
– Pathetic – and can still win the ACC…
11.
North Carolina
– Good win over
Boston College
– Tar Heels are difficult to predict…
12.
Clemson
– Saw this one live last Saturday – looked shaky against
Duke
. Getting to a bowl would be an accomplishment at this point…
13.
Arkansas
– Can really run the ball – really can’t pass it…
14
Wake Forest
– Same old song – and it doesn’t sound good…
15.
Maryland
– No clue what will happen against North Carolina this week…
16.
Ole Miss
– Stay-out-of-the-cellar game with Arkansas…
17.
North Carolina State
– Sorry, but I’m not moving them up for following the same pattern as the last few seasons. State can beat FSU, but no one else it seems…
18.
Tennessee
– This is getting sad…
19. Virginia – Great win over
Temple
!
20. Vandy – “Can beat Florida, but won’t” – they never do!
21. Kentucky – First home basketball game within days…
22.
Mississippi State
– Worst team in the SEC…
23. Duke – Worst in the South, but quarterback looked good this weekend…
