ATHENS - Georgia has lost another senior leader for this week’s game against Florida with quarterback D.J. Shockley sidelined, but at least the No. 4 Bulldogs are getting one back.

"I’m feeling great, feeling good, ready to play,” defensive tackle Gerald Anderson said this week.

Anderson has missed most of the last three games due to a concussion, but he will return to his normal starting spot this week against No. 16 Florida.

“Gerald came out there (this week) running like a 4.5 his legs are so fresh,” said Ray Gant, who probably will start alongside Anderson because senior Kedric Golston remains out with an elbow injury. “He looked good. He’s ready to go.”

The Bulldogs (7-0, 5-0) thought Anderson was ready to go during the Oct. 8 Tennessee game, two weeks after he suffered the concussion against Mississippi State. However, his symptoms returned in the first half against the Vols, and he had to leave the game.

Coach Mark Richt said he’s confident Anderson is back at full strength after sitting out the Vanderbilt and Arkansas games.

“We can only go by the symptoms and how long he’s had no symptoms,” Richt said. “(Head athletic trainer) Ron Courson and our doctors feel very confident that he’ll have no trouble.”

Anderson isn’t worried, he said.

“I’m ready to turn it loose and have fun. Whatever happens, happens,” he said.
