Florida Week: Thursday Practice Report

Posted Oct 27, 2005

ATHENS - The fourth-ranked Georgia football team held its final practice of the week for just over an hour and a half at Sanford Stadium on Thursday.

The Bulldogs worked out in helmets and shorts while crowd noise played over the stadium’s public address system.

“It’s been a pretty good week,” said Georgia head coach Mark Richt. “I think the guys are starting to get excited about the game. This is different than any game of the year because of the neutral site and they pretty much let school out for it.”

Richt also said the punters and safeties will wear special decals this week in memory of former Georgia letterman Don Golden, who died last Sunday in a two-car accident in Gainesville.

“We all grieve that loss. He helped us every summer at our camps. He was just awesome to work with. To honor him we’ve decided to take the number 12 that he wore and make it a decal on the back of the helmets of the safeties and punters – the positions he played,” Richt said.

Saturday's contest between Georgia and Florida will be televised nationally by CBS and kickoff will be at 3:30 p.m. ET.
