ATHENS - Florida coach Urban Meyer clearly is so overwhelmed by his game-planning that he’s missed the memo about D.J. Shockley. Although Shockley is not practicing this week and has been ruled out of the game by Georgia coach Mark Richt, Meyer said Wednesday that his team still is preparing to play Shockley.

“I haven’t been told (Shockley is not playing) yet,” Meyer said. “I guess when I hear that, it’s a different deal. Until then, you’re making a major mistake if you don’t prepare.”

Urban Meyer must not be listening. Richt has been definitive about Shockley’s status and said this week that he never even considered being coy about the situation to gain an advantage. Asked why he volunteered the fact Shockley won’t play this week, Richt said, “because he’s out for the game.”’
