ATHENS - Georgia quarterback D.J. Shockley will play again this season for the Bulldogs, but not in Jacksonville, UGA head coach Mark Richt said Sunday.

"I don't think we'll see him this week," Richt said during his weekly teleconference. "I would say he is probable for the Auburn game. Nothing serious as far as (needing) surgery."

The No. 4 Bulldogs face No. 16 Florida this Saturday in Jacksonville at 3:30 p.m.

D.J. Shockley left the game with just more than 10 minutes left in the half with a knee injury that came on a third-and-15 play where he was tackled awkwardly and hard. The diagnosis late Saturday was a sprained medial collateral ligament, which Richt said hadn't changed Sunday.

Shockley limped off the field with help and was looked at on the bench for a few minutes before walking gingerly to the locker room. He spent the second half on the bench in a t-shirt and his uniform pants.

The senior was 6 of 10 for 74 yards and a touchdown passing while also losing nine yards on three rush attempts. Georgia was up 7-0 when he left.

Joe Tereshinski completed 5 of 9 passes for 91 yards, with one interception that was tipped at the line of scrimmage. He lost four yards on four rush attempts.

Tereshinski, a 6-foot-3, 221-pound junior, had not thrown a pass in a college game before this year. He's completed 13 fo 23 for 207 yards with one interception and no touchdowns.

Richt said the week off after the Florida game drastically increases the chances that Shockley will be back for Auburn on Nov. 12 in Athens.

"If we didn't have the open date," Richt said, "I don't know if he'd make it or not."

Shockley entered Saturday's game as the SEC's top-rated quarterback, 13th nationally, with a 156.0 rating. He was also 22nds nationally and leading the SEC with 281.3 yard per game. Shockley is 95 of 164 this year for 1,538 yards with 12 touchdowns and four interceptions.

Richt said it'll be a rough week for his wounded senior quarterback.

"It's one of those games you want to be a part of," Richt said. "It's part of the reasons why you come to Georgia. I know it's going to hurt him."
