Arkansas Week: Thursday Practice Report

Posted Oct 20, 2005

ATHENS – The No. 4 University of Georgia football team continued its preparations for Saturday’s game versus the Arkansas Razorbacks, practicing for just under two hours at the Woodruff practice fields on Thursday afternoon.

The team practiced in shorts and spent its final workout of the week going through assignments.

Prior to Thursday’s practice, head coach Mark Richt announced that junior Dale Dixson would start at defensive tackle for senior Kedric Golston, who was injured in Georgia’s 34-17 win at Vanderbilt last Saturday. Richt also said that junior Ray Gant would continue to start in place of injured senior NT Gerald Anderson.

“Dale had a good week of practice,” said Richt. “(Freshman) Jeffrey Owens made it a tight race, but he’ll still get in and play a good bit.

“We’ll roll those guys in and out. We will substitute freely and keep guys fresh and hopefully that will help.”

Because of the earlier kickoff for this weekend’s game, Richt also announced that the “Dog Walk” will be at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday.

“It may be the earliest Dog Walk in the history of Dog Walks and we need the fans to be there,” said Richt.

Kickoff Saturday versus the Razorbacks will be at 12:30 p.m. ET, and the game will be regionally televised by Jefferson-Pilot.
