The Bulldogs are 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the SEC after last week's win at Vanderbilt. On Saturday, they will entertain Arkansas (2-4, 0-3), Georgia¹s first home game since it beat Louisiana-Monroe on Sept. 17.
Also on Monday, the first Bowl Championship Series (BCS) standings were released, and the Bulldogs were No. 4. Southern Cal, Texas and Virginia Tech were Nos. 1-3, respectively.
³It¹s flattering to be considered among the top teams in the country, but we need to be concerned about what we can control ‹ and that is getting ready for Arkansas and what is happening in the SEC,² Georgia coach Mark Richt said. ³We do have some control over the SEC race Š (but) we really don¹t have much control over the things happening on the national level at all.²
Richt announced the captains for Saturday¹s game will be receiver Bryan McClendon and tackle Dennis Roland on offense, end Quentin Moses on defense, and cornerback Tim Jennings on special teams.
The Bulldogs went through agility drills to start practice, but one group was excused. The Bulldogs are broken into "academic teams" and the winning group on Monday was made up of Joe Cox, John DeGenova, Rowdy Francis, Kedric Golston, Evan Kobialka, Zeb McKinzey, Brian Mimbs, McClendon, Antonio Sims, Danny Verdun Wheeler and Danny Ware.
Kickoff for Saturday¹s game is slated for 12:30 p.m. and will be televised by Jefferson Pilot.
