Battle tough enough

ATHENS - Until his big play against Tennessee, safety Tra Battle was quietly having a very good season.

“Tra’s productivity has been outstanding,” coach Mark Richt said. “To be his size, you have to be pretty smart and you have to be tough, and pound-for-pound, he’s very, very tough.”

Tra Battle, a Mary Persons graduate who is listed as 167 pounds and probably isn't that heavy, is second on the team with 30 tackles. He’s also tied for the team lead in interceptions with Greg Blue, each with two.

He also has one forced fumble and one fumble recovery, both of which came in the second half against Tennessee, when he stripped wide receiver Josh Briscoe for a key turnover.
