ATHENS - News and notes from Georiga's practices.

Georgia wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi is on quite a run. The true freshman’s team has won 68 straight games. Massquoi played his high school football at Independence High in Charlotte, N.C., and Independence went 63-0 in his four seasons.

Massaquoi’s last loss came when he was at Northeast Middle School in Charlotte, he said.

“We have to keep winning,” quarterback D.J. Shockley said. “If we lose, he may have a heart attack or something.”

BUFF BULLDOGS: After making a big deal out of the size and strength of athletes on Tennessee’s team last week, Richt felt the need this week to point out that Georgia’s players have a little bulk themselves.

“I was looking at our guys in pregame warmup, and I looked over at Clay Walker, one of our assistant strength coaches, and said, ‘We don’t have any fatties out here,’” Richt said. “We’ve got guys who are in tremendous shape.”

Walker lettered in football and baseball at Wilcox County High School. Richt also praised head strength coach Dave Van Halanger and assistant strength coach Keith Gray.

AUCTION SET: Georgia officials have set the schedule to auction off signed memorabilia to raise money for Hurricane Katrina relief. The players and coaches, in various combinations, have signed 11 footballs and 10 helmets that will be auctioned off at www.georgiadogs.com beginning next week. A list of the five-week schedule can be found at www.georgiadogs.com.
