Vanderbilt Week: Tuesday News and Notes Premium Story

ATHENS - News and notes from Georgia's practices.

“They’re saying more Florida than Arkansas,” Anderson said. “The best thing would probably be for me to wait until at least Florida.”

Gerald Anderson suffered his third concussion against Mississippi State and then sat out the next week of practice. He said the team doctors told him he may have tried to return too soon because his symptoms -- headache, dizziness, blurred vision and nausea -- returned during the Tennessee game.

SHARING TIME: The surest sign yet of tight end Martrez Milner’s development came Tuesday when Richt said Milner and Leonard Pope are co-No. 1s at the position. Pope entered the season as an All-American candidate and has 13 catches for 199 yards, but Milner is not far behind in receptions (nine) and ahead of Pope in yards gained (233).

Richt also revealed Tuesday one of the summer motivational techniques he used on Milner, showing the junior a highlight reel and a lowlight reel of himself.

“I showed him the best of Martrez Milner, and I showed him some things that weren’t very good,” Richt said. “One guy looked like a (NFL) draft pick for sure. The other guy who might not even bring in as a free agent.”

HOLDING ON: If Sean Bailey’s shoulder injury allows it, he will start against Vanderbilt, receivers coach John Eason said. Bailey has just five catches for 93 yards this year and dropped another pass against Tennessee, and his backup Kenneth Harris has seven catches for 155 yards. Still, Eason does not have concerns about Bailey’s play, he said.

“Not at this point, no,” he said.

ANOTHER COMMITMENT: Georgia added its 22nd verbal commitment on Tuesday as defensive end Demarcus Dobbs of Calvary Baptist Day School in Savannah pledged to the Bulldogs, according to Scout.com. Dobbs, who Scout.com rates as a four-star player and the ninth-best defensive end in the country, had scholarship offers from the Bulldogs and Georgia Tech, according to the Web site.
