Southern Football Predictions
Georgia Cheerleader

Dean Legge makes his weekly picks for the 23 schools in the South.

1. LSU – Monday night win over Tennessee would confirm status as a national title contender

2. Virginia Tech – Best team in the ACC

3. Florida – Didn’t look great against Tennessee, but won – style points don’t matter

4. Georgia – Again, style points don’t matter

5. Tennessee – Vols look susceptible to a few losses this season

6. Florida State – Win over Boston College was critical – FSU still has a long way to go.

7. Miami – Still in striking distance in the ACC, but offense must play better.

8. Clemson – Took a baby step backwards in loss to Miami – win over Boston College is mandatory or else this is the same old Clemson

9. Georgia Tech – Tech remains undefeated, but didn’t look good against UConn – no shot against Turkeys from Virginia.

10. Alabama – Unleashed a beating on South Carolina; now Arkansas at home.

11. Vanderbilt – Will be 5-0 going into game with LSU (and should be ranked at that time).

12. Virginia – Still not that great.

13. Auburn – A little better against a nobody – this week another nobody – is Auburn good?

14. NC State – Wins over directional schools from Kentucky don’t impress

15. Ole Miss – Rebuilding will take Rebels some time

16. Maryland – This program seems lost

17. Arkansas – I thought last week’s loss to Vandy was a low point in Houston Nutt’s tenure – I stand corrected; 70-17 now is.

18. South Carolina – That flushing sound you heard from Columbia was the Gamecocks’ season going down the toilet.

19. Mississippi State – Beats bad Tulane team – can Croom do to Georgia this week what he did to Florida last season? Doesn’t seem likely

20. Wake Forest – Wake holds on against East Carolina

21. Duke – Devils get a win, and move out of last place

22. Kentucky – These are the final days of Rich Brooks in Lexington

23. North Carolina – The worst team in the South.

This week’s games:

NOTE: these are Sunday lines; some may have moved

Richmond at Vanderbilt

-------------
Georgia (-15.5) at Mississippi State

-------------
-------------
