ATHENS - Offensive lineman Josh Brock, who missed all of 2004 due to a shoulder injury and the first three games of this year due to a concussion, returned to contact practice Wednesday.

“For me to be back out there, I can’t explain how happy I was,” he said. “It was pretty bad there for a little while. It got me real down.”

Josh Brock suffered severe nausea and problems concentrating for almost a month after suffering his third concussion during fall practice. A junior who started 12 games in 2003, he worked with the scout team Wednesday but hopes to return to the regular unit next week when Georgia has an off week.

“It’ll be a good time for me to get back in the swing of things,” he said.

Brock hopes to play in the Oct. 8 game against Tennessee. Richt said he wants to see how Brock responds to full contact before speculating on when he could contribute.

“We’re not out of the woods yet,” he said.
