"Overall, it was a good, solid day," head coach Mark Richt said. "It was extremely hot yesterday, but I think they got a bit of a break with the weather today. There was only one cloud in the sky but that cloud seemed to cover up the sun a good bit and there was a breeze." Richt conducted his weekly press session earlier in the day and discussed this week's road opener at Mississippi State game at length. "We¹re excited about playing this game," Richt said. "It's the first time for the players and for (the coaches) to play them, but I remember how loud and wild it seemed to be up in the stands when I played there as a player and how hostile their stadium can be. And we haven't been away to play in a long time, since our bowl game, so we'll see how we handle that.² Richt was a quarterback at Miami when the No. 13-ranked Hurricanes lost 14-10 at No. 16 Mississippi State during the 1981 season. Kick-off for Saturday's game is slated for 9:12 p.m. ET, and the contest will be televised nationally by espn2. |
