Three keys to Georgia vs. ULM

Posted Sep 16, 2005

ATHENS - Josh Kendall takes a look at the three keys to the Georgia-ULM contest.

Show up

There’s no doubt of the outcome today. If the team buses make it to Sanford Stadium and there are no Dawg Walk catastrophes, Georgia will win with ease.

Stay healthy

The Bulldogs can’t afford any more injuries this week. The season’s most critical game, Oct. 8 in Knoxville, is beginning to loom on the horizon.

Get some offensive confidence

There’s no better time to put the passing and running games together. The Indians won’t be able to stop either.

One to watch

Wide receiver Mohamed Massaquoi is poised to jump into a serious role for the Bulldogs, if not into the starting lineup. The true freshman missed more than two weeks of fall camp due to a hamstring injury, but he’s already been one of the most impressive pass catchers on the team. Massaquoi has only made three catches but all three have been circus-worthy grabs and he’s averaging 24.7 yards per catch. He could really put on a show against overmatched competition today and vault himself to a special first season.

Georgia coach Mark Richt pulled out one of Vince Dooley’s old tricks this week when he praised the Indians’ punter and kickoff specialist Joel Stelly. That’s a sure indication that this one is going to be a laugher. The Bulldogs are banged up, which is the only thing that makes this game interesting. It won’t make any difference in what should be an outlandish final score, but it will give fans and coaches a chance to see some new faces perform in a game day situation. Winner: Georgia
