“Thomas, I would say is questionable at this point,” Richt said.
Thomas Brown suffered a slightly separated shoulder and damage to his AC joint in the South Carolina game, but said after the game he was confident he would play this week. He remains confident he could but is less certain he will.
“It’s something I could play with, but I’m not sure I want to take that risk,” he said.
“If he’s in a weakened condition and goes out there and carries it 20 times again, you may not have him for a long time,” Richt said.
Brown was held out of contact in Tuesday’s practice and probably will be again today. If he is out, it will give third-string tailback Kregg Lumpkin more playing time this week, Richt said. Lumpkin carried the ball just one time against South Carolina.
Brown has carried the ball 28 times for 186 yards this year. Second-teamer Danny Ware, Georgia’s third-leading rusher behind Brown and quarterback D.J. Shockley, has 19 carries for 86 yards this year.
