Posted Sep 12, 2005

ATHENS - Fresh off its first Southeastern Conference win of the season, the Georgia football team returned to practice on Monday with a 90-minute workout in shorts and T-shirts.

The Bulldogs are 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the SEC following Saturday¹s victory against South Carolina. This Saturday, Georgia will entertain Louisiana-Monroe at Sanford Stadium.

³We put in some good work today,² Georgia coach Mark Richt said. ³It was hot, but the players were in good spirits and they were focused on getting better. We¹re glad to be 2-0, but we all know we¹ve still got plenty of work to do. We got off to a good start for this week.²

Richt announced the captains for Saturday¹s game will be Russ Tanner and Bryan McClendon on offense, Tim Jennings on defense and Mike Gilliam on special teams.

The Bulldogs went through agility drills to start practice, but one group was excused. The Bulldogs are broken into "academic teams" and the winning group on Monday was made up of DeMario Minter, Jarvis Jackson, Nick Jones, Mitchell Pittman, Quentin Moses, Michael Moore, Jeff Busbee and Tommy Walker.

Kickoff for Saturday¹s game is slated for 1 p.m.
