Despite not being in pads, Georgia head coach Mark Richt emphasized the importance of what his team is supposed to get out of practices like they had today.
“Today is a big day for us to really be focused on what we are doing,” said Richt. “When you don’t have pads on you can’t really simulate a true block and a true tackle and so it takes a lot of mental discipline to really get something out of a day like today.”
Richt said the Bulldogs have been very focused on their preparations for this week’s game due in large part to the tough challenge that South Carolina will present when it comes to Athens this weekend.
“So far they have been real business like,” said Richt. “They will have a little fun out here, but they are serious about doing their work. It’s kind of a quiet bunch really. I’ve been to a lot of practices where there is a lot of talking among teammates, but they are really businesslike right now, which is probably a good thing.”
Kickoff for Saturday's game is slated for 5:36 p.m. ET, and the contest will be televised nationally by ESPN.
