The money was raised during the Football 101 session held June 17. The event drew more than 300 women, and it gave them a unique insight into the game of football and various aspects surrounding a major college program. Classes included basic rules of the game; offensive, defensive and special teams positions and strategies; and off-the-field aspects such as strength and conditioning and athletic training. The women also held a scrimmage on the Georgia practice fields.
The session was conducted by members of the UGA football staff at the Butts-Mehre Heritage Hall, the Rankin Smith Student-Athlete Academic Center and Woodruff Practice Fields.
Information about and applications for the 2006 Football 101 session will be available on Friday on georgiadogs.com, along with video highlights from the 2005 class.
