ATHENS – Joe Cox spoke with Dean Legge for a short time after one of Georgia's fall practices.

Dean Legge: How are things going for you so far?

Joe Cox: Things are going pretty well. I’d say I have a lot more to learn, and a lot more film to study. But each day I feel like I learn something new, and I think I am progressing pretty well.

Do you have a girlfriend that you are going to have to explain your new haircut to?

I told her about it last night. She just laughed about it. I don’t think she’ll mind – it will grow back real quick.

How difficult is it to learn a new system?

The hardest part about it is the terminology. It’s really hard to do that once you are used to knowing another offense front to back with other words. Then, you go to a new place and different words mean different things here

How do you think Mohammed is dealing with that hamstring – he seemed like he was making some plays.

He’s going to be fine. I think it has been hard on him because he knew he was making some plays and he knows that he has a good shot of playing this year. He really didn’t want to sit out during his first camp.

What do you do to get ready – you playing this fall; it may or may not happen – to position yourself for the spring when the starting spot seems wide open.

Just take each day one at a time and just try to learn each part of our offense completely and learn what to do in each situation. That’s all I can do from here until whenever they decide they want me to play or have a chance to play.

Do you feel like you have gotten better over the last couple of weeks?

I feel like I’ve gotten a lot better since the first day of practice. I walked out there and had no idea what I was doing.

Is it starting to slow down for you?

It is. One reason they do our practices so fast and intense is so that in game or scrimmage situations things slow down, and that’s happened so far.
