2004 Starter: Danny Verdun - Wheeler
It’s hard to imagine that not that many people are aware of the skill Verdun-Wheeler has. He is, with little question, the top conditioned linebacker on the team. Not only that, but Verdun-Wheeler is a heavy hitter that can run – something that you want in an outside linebacker. Verdun-Wheeler now has 12 starts in 22 games over the last two years – it’s been hard to keep him off the field.
Often talked about Dannell Ellerbe seems to have all the potential in the world. After sitting out his freshman season to redshirt, Ellerbe can now show fans what all the coaches are buzzing about. Special teams could be a showcase for Ellerbe each game because getting playing time in front of Verdun-Wheeler is going to be difficult – no matter how talented Ellerbe is.
