Enrolled at UGA since 2002, Smith (5-10, 228 pounds) has alternated between linebacker (2002, 2004-present) and fullback (2003) since joining the Bulldogs as a walk-on.
“It’s always satisfying when a walk-on player pays the price necessary to put himself in position to earn a scholarship,” said Richt. “Jamario has been in our program several years and is very deserving of a scholarship.”
A native of Forsyth, Jamario Smith played in only five games last season due to a back injury. In 21 career games, Smith has accumulated 14 combined tackles on defense and seven carries for 31 yards and two receptions for 19 yards and one touchdown on offense.
