Jean-Gilles and Pope named All-SEC

HOOVER – Two Georgia players were named to the Media's All-SEC first team, and one was named to the second team.

Georgia Offensive tackle Max Jean-Gilles and tight end Leonard Pope were both named to the Media's All-SEC first team. Safety Greg Blue was named to the second team.

Jean-Gilles, a senior, was considering going to the NFL, but decided to return for his final season in Athens. Pope, a junior, is considered by most to be an All-American candidate. Blue, a senior from College Park, has gained weight this off-season and was voted the fifth best defensive back in the conference according to the Media.

Auburn offensive lineman Marcus McNeill received the most votes with 84. Jean-Gilles and Pope both received 68 votes while Blue received 20.

Georgia was picked third overall by the Media – receiving nine first place votes in the SEC East and six overall SEC first place votes. Tennessee was picked by the Media as the overall SEC Champions while LSU was picked to win the West over Auburn and Alabama. Recommended Stories
