ATHENS – Georgia reserve defensive lineman Darrius Swain was released from jail on Wednesday and is expected to rejoin the Bulldogs when they practice Thursday night.

Coach Mark Richt could not be reached for comment on Wednesday, but defensive line coach Rodney Garner said Tuesday that Swain has already been punished for the actions that led to his imprisonment. Garner stressed that Richt would make the final decision about Swain’s status.

Darrius Swain was arrested on Feb. 23 on charges of speeding and driving with a suspended license. He was released on that charge but jailed again Sunday because he violated his parole from a December criminal trespass incident by not paying his fines.

Today will be the Bulldogs’ third spring practice and their first day in full pads.
