The news broke early this morning that Tavares Kearney, a linebacker out of Tucker, GA committed to the Georgia Bulldogs. He the announcement on V103, a local radio station here in Atlanta. we caught up with Kearney, and he gave us the details of his commitment.

Why did Tavares Kearney pick the home state Bulldogs?

"The coaches are great. I thought the facilities were great and I really liked the new linebacker coach."

Coach Jancek, the new linebacker coach was just hired by Coach Richt about a week ago. What are Kearney's thoughts on Coach Jancek?

"He is a real cool guy. He can be funny, but he knows when to get down to business too. I really like that."

What was the biggest reason Kearney chose the Dawgs over the Buckeyes?

"It is so much closer to home. I wanted to be near my mom. Also, the weather here is much better than Ohio State."

Now that Tavares Kearney has given his verbal commitment to Coach Richt and the Georgia Bulldogs, he has decided not to take anymore visits. Mr. Kearney has put recruiting behind him and will sign his letter of intent next Wednesday and fax it over to Coach Richt in Athens, GA.
