Dawgs' final practice a loose one

TAMPA – Georgia’s last practice of the 2004 season was a very loose one.

The Bulldogs practiced yesterday morning in helmets and shorts. Many players wore their teammate’s jerseys instead of their own. The switching of numbers caused for confusion – even for the coaching staff.

The highlight of the practice came when quarterback David Greene lined up at wide receiver and just missed catching a touchdown pass. Greene dropped the pass and was jeered by his teammates.

“I was looking in the sun and I couldn’t quite pull it in,” said the senior quarterback.

“I tell him all the time that’s the sort of thing we have to deal with,” said a smiling Fred Gibson after the practice.

Georgia Head Coach Mark Richt and the rest of the Bulldogs joined Wisconsin in a DeBartalo Properties sponsored team lunch. At the lunch Richt said Georgia was “ready to play the game” and that he enjoyed the hospitality the Outback Bowl had given the Bulldogs.

Today the Bulldogs will go through this final walk through practice at Raymond James Stadium before the game at 1 PM.
