ATHENS – Another game and more struggles scoring touchdowns inside the redzone for the Georgia Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs have accounted for more than 1,000 yards in their last two games, but they struggled to score against Arkansas. The Bulldogs would have put the game out of reach in the fourth quarter, but could not take advantage of David Pollack’s sack and forced fumble. The play resulted in the Bulldogs taking possession of the ball at the Razorback eight, however all the Dawgs managed was an Andy Bailey field goal.

“The stats were good but we have to get better on the scoreboard,” said Georgia quarterback David Greene.

The Bulldogs failed to score one third a goal twice with different running backs against the Razorbacks. Both Danny Ware and Thomas Brown came up slightly short on touchdown attempts.

“I am seeing some poor blocking and some poor reads by our backs. I think we would have done better had we taken better angles,” said Georgia Head Coach Mark Richt.

Richt has admitted his frustration with the Bulldogs’ lack of touchdown scoring in the redzone, and one of his receivers agrees.

“It’s frustrating, but I am happy that we got a couple of field goals when we did. Good thing we have another week to work on it,” said senior receiver Fred Gibson, who had a record setting day against the Hogs including one of Georgia’s touchdowns.

Georgia’s difficulty in the redzone is making games more difficult to win according to their head coach. It may have already cost the Bulldogs in their game against Tennessee.

“The wins are always tough but they are tougher than I expected (this year). For the amount of yards we are gaining I would expect more points. We need to score more points in the redzone. We have to stop making penalties and turnovers – it’s going to cost us again,” Richt said.
