ATHENS - Georgia quarterback David Greene has been named the Walter Camp Football Foundation Division 1-A National Offensive Player of the Week.

David Greene led the third-ranked Bulldogs to a 45-16 victory of defending national champion LSU Saturday. Greene set a set a school record with five touchdown passes (covering 26, 2, 29, 24, and 21 yards). In fact, Greene's five touchdown passes totaled half of his completions for the game (10-of-19, 172 yards).

The Snellville, Ga. native also recorded his 36th victory, tying a Georgia record as a starter. In his career, Greene is 36-8 as the Bulldog starting quarterback, a mark he shares with 2003 College Football Hall of Fame inductee Johnny Rauch. Currently, Greene ranks fourth nationally among the Division I-A winningest all-time starting quarterbacks. He is three wins shy of Peyton Manning's record mark of 39-6 during his career at Tennessee.

Greene has helped the Bulldogs to a 4-0 start including 2-0 in the Southeastern Conference. The Bulldogs play host to Tennessee Saturday in a nationally-televised matchup at 3:30 p.m. on CBS.

The Walter Camp Foundation names an offensive and defensive player of the week during the season. Auburn defensive back Junior Rosegreen was named this week's Defensive Player of the Week. He set an Auburn single-game record and tied a 65-year-old SEC record with four interceptions in the eighth-ranked Tigers' 34-10 win over 10th-ranked Tennessee in Knoxville.

The Walter Camp Football Foundation, a New Haven-based all-volunteer group, was founded in 1967 to perpetuate the ideals of Walter Camp, generally regarded as the "Father of American football," and to continue the tradition of selecting annually an All-America team.
